iPhone App of the Week - EasyWriter

I am a big fan of applications that make my life and working on the iPhone easier for me, and I found an App that perfectly fits my expectations.

The one big thing I do on my iPhone is work on emails. I have three email accounts that I work with daily, and only being able to type emails in portrait mode can get annoying real fast due to the keypad being so small.

Today, while searching through the AppStore, I found EasyWriter. Not sure why Apple has not done this yet for the iPhone, but EasyWriter makes it available the ability to type both notes and emails in landscape mode. This makes typing emails a whole lot easier and quicker to accomplish.

EasyWriter's widescreen keyboard mode not only allows you to type in landscape, you can pinch the screen to decrease and increase the size of the font as needed. With its "Send to Email" button, it automatically takes what you wrote, and adds it to the body of a new email. If you are replying to an email, just open the email you want to reply to, then open EasyWriter, type the message, click the "Send to Email" button, and it adds the text to the reply message.

EasyWriter for the iPhone and iPod Touch is free for a limited time, as it says in the details section in the AppStore, so hop to it and go to the AppStore, or download it here (iTunes Link).

FYI, last night Apple approved version 2.0 of EasyWriter Pro, which adds two new features:

1) A spell checker that is as powerful as any desktop spell checker, but fits in the iPhone UI.

2) Blackberry-style AutoText so you can type something short (like "sig") and have it automatically replaced by a longer text clipping.

More info at http://www.saxorama.net/ and the iTunes App Store.
