iPhone App of the Week - Bloomberg

With the economic roller coaster (via WSJ) that is upon us, I need to have the up and up on what is going on in the Wall Street world while running around and not being in front of a computer. I was using the Stock App that came with my iPhone to track my stocks and various indecies, but just getting quick quotes wasn't cutting it.

On a tip from Kevin Rose's post, and in watching the YouTube video that he embedded in it, I went and downloaded the Bloomberg App.

From current news and stock quotes, to commodities and foreign exchanges, the Bloomberg App has and covers it all for you.

iBowl Game App for iPhone - Review

Yesterday I got a note on Facebook from my friend Shervin Pishevar, CEO of SGN (Social Gaming Network) about a new game he released for the iPhone called iBowl.

After my experience with their first game for the iPhone - iGolf, I immediately grabbed my iPhone and went right to the App Store and downloaded it.

Without reading the instructions I went right to the game and started bowling. Swinging my arm as if I was bowling all over my living room. My 7 year old Daughter saw what I was doing and wanted to play too.

iPhone App of the Week - TwitterFon

After using m.twitter.com, and playing with a bunch of Twitter client Apps on the iPhone, I finally found something usable in TwitterFon.

TwitterFon, is just a simple app that lets you see your friends timelines, post your tweets/replies/DMs, and it even has a built in browser so you can view links in tweets, and add links to your tweets. It also allows you to view your friends mini profile, and their timeline.

If you are looking for a more advanced iPhone Twitter client, check out Twittelator.

iGolf Game App for iPhone - Review

My friends over at Social Gaming Network have created the best game I have played on my iPhone to date called iGolf. The current version is just a driving range simulator that is similar to playing a game on a Nintendo Wii, you swing the iPhone like you were swinging a golf club. Using the iPhone accelerometer it measures your swing and hits the ball for you down range measuring your shot distance at the same time.

Play by yourself, or challenge your friends to a distance contest. Either way it is great fun, and a great game.

iPhone App of the Week - Wikipanion

This weekend I downloaded Wikipanion from Apple's App Store. I needed to look up info on the move, and I felt that searching and scrolling through Wikipedia on the iPhone's Safari browser was pretty close to impossible. You have to zoom in, and scroll around to read, and then zoom out to figure out where you are on the page.

Wikipanion made it fast and easy for me to search for information.

iPhone Firmware 2.1 - My Take

No Copy & Paste!!! Oh well, I guess you can’t win them all.

Anyway, I’m still happy that the upgrade to Firmware 2.1 went well, and with out any delays or problems. I have seen great improvement in load speeds of Apps, and web sites using Safari.

Also, I have been playing nonstop with the iPhone since upgrading, and my battery life is still showing pretty close to full, where normally, it would be around half gone by now.

So overall I am happy with it, but I still would like to have the copy & paste feature…

Please Apple Please…
